The original starwars movies were cutting edge when it came to spaceship designs, and has retained it's key importance for spaceship design even if some of the designs may seem aged by today's standards.

Outside the official trillogies, it's worth noticing a rich forest of unofficial craft designs found in 'extended universe' sources such as books, cartoons and especially computer games.

First appearance in the first person shooter Dark Forces, and following games in the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series.
